| Summary: | Baker Tournament: 4 or more teams where winners continue to advance or compete until a champion is determined (straight bracket or pool play with championship criteria). A head-to-head Baker Tournament may consist of best 2-out-of-3 or best 3-out-of-5 matches. Tournament formats should be approved by the NSAA Bowling Director.
Baker Tournament Formats (Even Number of Teams) 1 - Assign teams based wildcard system or random draw. 2 - Wild card points will be awarded for head-to-head play. 3 - In the event of a tie in any head-to-head match, refer to tie-breaking procedure in the NSAA Bowling Manual. 1 - Assign teams based wildcard system or random draw. 2 - Wild card points will be awarded for head-to-head play. 3 - Due to uneven number of teams, team #X will be the “Ghost Team”. 4 - Teams bowling the “Ghost Team” will need to beat the current game average of all teams to be awarded the win and 47 wild card points (2nd division team). 5 - A loss to the “Ghost Team” will equate to a loss to a 2nd division team (36 points). 6 - In bracket play, Ghost Teams are not permitted. Teams with a bye will be allowed to practice on an open pair but must stop when their next opponents match is completed. 7 - In the event of a tie in any head-to-head match, refer to tie-breaking procedure in the NSAA Bowling Manual. | |||
| Rationale: | Currently, the only time teams bowl a Baker only format is at the State Championships. Adding Baker Tournament Formats would allow flexibility in scheduling and give them experience prior to state. The language included for Baker only formats mimic those of other sports to allow for pool play, bracket play or both giving teams flexibility in how it is scheduled. | |||
| Pros: | Creates a layer of competition during the regular season that may only be seen in the state championships. | |||
| Cons: | None | |||
