| Implementation date: | 2026-09-30 | |||
| Sections affected in Activities Manual: | Page Page 8 | Article Music Article 7 | Section 7.3.2 | |
| Summary: | Change the music classification divisions as follows:
Class AA from 601+ to 801+ (moves from 43 schools in the class to 35) Class A from 301-600 to 225-800 (moves from 17 schools in the class to 35) Class B from 151-300 to 125-224 (moves from 42 schools in the class to 43) Class C from 75-150 to 75-124 (moves from 78 schools in the class to 66) Class D remains >75 (remains at 111 schools in the class)
| Rationale: | The current classification numbers have limited Class A to only 17 schools. While Class AA has ballooned to 42 schools. This proposal provides better balance within the classes. | |||
| Pros: | Based on the current enrollment numbers, the proposal would re-establish Class A with 35 schools. Class AA would also have 35 schools, Class B - 43, Class C - 66, and Class D would be unchanged.
By making these adjustments it will balance out entries at District music contest. These adjustments will assist in a more balanced class B, C all state.
| Cons: | This does increase the range from the largest school to the smallest school within class A from 299 students to 575 students, the second largest range in the classifications (AA range difference from largest school to smallest is 1139 students.)
This could affect some site assignments for District Music Contest.
