| Summary: | How qualifiers are placed in the brackets at the State Tournament
The purpose of this proposal is to change how wrestlers are placed in the bracket at the state tournament. The proposal is to seed all 16 qualifiers in each weight class by the trackwrestling criteria we use at the district meets. | |||
| Rationale: | Currently the 4 district champions are seeded only. That caused several situations where the #1 vs #3 or the #2 vs #3 ranked wrestlers wrestled in the quarter finals. Seeding the state tournament was brought about so the two best kids might not be on the same side and meet in the semi’s, but now top level kids are meeting in the quarter’s. | |||
| Pros: | The kids that have proven all year who are the better should be meeting later in the tournament. By seeding all individuals, a wrestler that comes out of an easy district will not be rewarded based on the level of the district. The best kids should be separated. | |||
| Cons: | Kids that wrestled at district could potentially wrestle the first match at state. | |||
