| Summary: | This proposal would match what was passed for baseball last year by recognizing Out of State Series as a Tournament date and not individual games.
Out-of-State Series - 4 or more teams scheduled to compete over a span no longer than 4 days. The out-of-state series must consist of inter-state teams and be a sanctioned event by the state association and NFHS (if applicable). | |||
| Rationale: | The contest limitations in softball limit teams from participating in various out-of-state competitions because the definition of a tournament only allows competition with championship criteria. This addition allows teams to travel out-of-state for showcase series or tournaments once a season to an event that would otherwise be considered a tournament without penalizing their schedule or the schedules of other intra-state opponents. | |||
| Pros: | Opens the possibility for teams to compete in an event without compromising a large portion of their schedule. | |||
| Cons: | More games being played during the season for teams that choose to participate in an out-of-state series. | |||
