| Summary: | The current number of schools and 9-11 student enrollment for NSAA legislative districts:
District 1 - 52 Schools | 17,031 Students District 2 - 90 Schools | 44,046 Students District 3 - 55 Schools | 6,149 Students District 4 - 59 Schools | 10,176 Students District 5 - 24 Schools | 2,079 Students District 6 - 27 Schools | 3,196 Students In order to balance the number of schools in each NSAA legislative district, this proposal would redistribute the number of schools and students as follows: District 1 - 44 Schools | 16,990 Students District 2 - 50 Schools | 38,095 Students District 3 - 58 Schools | 6,373 Students District 4 - 49 Schools | 6,169 Students District 5 - 53 Schools | 9,154 Students District 6 - 53 Schools | 5,941 Students Schools by Districts | State Map w/ Boundaries & Schools
| Rationale: | This proposal has slightly modified boundary lines based on feedback received from the 2024-25 proposal that advanced to Representative Assembly. January 2025 District Meeting voting totals were 206 For, 79 Against, and 15 Abstain. District voting results are shown below.
District 1 - 46 For, 4 Against District 2 - 37 For, 45 Against, 11 Abstentions District 3 - 45 For, 5 Against, 3 Abstentions District 4 - 53 For, 3 Against District 5 - 5 For, 17 Against District 6 - 20 For, 5 Against, 1 Abstention The NSAA Constitution requires a formal committee to be established to review the district boundary lines every ten years or more frequently if the need exists. The District Boundary Committee was convened during the 2024-25 school year based on feedback from the membership and a legislative proposal submitted at the 2024 Representative Assembly. The work of the committee resulted in this proposal, which more evenly distributes member schools into the six legislative districts. While this proposal does not bring an exact balance, it creates a more equal distribution of schools, while continuing to account for geography.
| Pros: | Schools would be more evenly distributed in the six NSAA legislative districts, creating a more equitable distribution of representation. Eliminate current imbalance from the largest district of 90 schools to the smallest of 24, shrinking the gap from largest to smallest district from 66 to 14 schools. | |||
| Cons: | Potential need for a special election to fill vacated district managing committee positions. | |||
